KNOXVILLE, Tenn, October 24, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Invisible Fence® Brand hosted the fourth annual nationwide Shelter to Forever Home Gift Contest. The mission of this contest was to raise awareness for lost pets. The contest began on July 1st in honor of National Lost Animal Awareness Month. As a pioneer in the pet care industry, The Invisible Fence called the community to unite around this goal.
Raising awareness for lost pets
According to the American Humane Association, approximately ten million dogs and cats are lost in the United States each year (American Humane).
through Shelter to Forever Home Gift Contest, Invisible Fence Brand’s goal was to raise awareness of how you can reduce the number of lost pets and help increase the shelter’s return-to-owner rate. During July and August, the public was invited to nominate local animal shelters for a chance to win a grand prize of $10,000 donated on behalf of Invisible Fence. The shelter or rescue with the most nominations will win a monetary donation. This year, a second-place raffle prize was included, giving more shelters the opportunity to help lost pets in their communities.
“We are thrilled to be able to host the fourth annual Shelter to Forever Home Gift Drive,” said Ed Hoyt, Vice President and General Manager of the Invisible Fence® Brand. “We’ve been able to reach out and connect with over 2,000 shelters across the country. Their hard work to support local pets is recognized and greatly appreciated.
Thousands of shelters and rescues across the US are rallying for nominations and the votes are in! With more than 30,000 nominations and shelters from 50 different states, the race was not easy. After two months of nominating shelters and raising awareness for lost pets, the winners were finally chosen. The runner-up shelter that will receive the $3,000 donation is the Berkeley Animal Center in Moncks Corner, SC. Their mission is to ensure that all animals in their care are treated with dignity and respect while finding safe and loving lifelong homes. In 2020 alone, more than 5,600 animals—from dogs and cats to rabbits, horses, goats, chickens, and more—were adopted. – was brought to the Animal Center for proper shelter and care.
Finally, the grand prize winner, who will receive $10,000, is The Animal Pad in San Diego, California. Animal Pad is a non-profit, all-breed dog rescue focused on rescuing dogs from high-kill shelters and the streets of Southern California and Mexico. Their goal is to establish, operate and maintain a no-kill animal shelter that provides animals with proper veterinary care, foster homes, rehabilitation and adoption into loving homes.
